Tell us about yourself.
My name is Kathryn. I am 60 years old. I am a retired nurse and have two dogs. I moved from County Durham to Gateforth Park in August 2022, from an old cottage with four bedrooms, on a hillside, in a rural location.
What appealed to you about Gateforth Park?
I came to visit my friend who was already living here and loved it. I asked her if she would mind me being her neighbour if I moved here… She luckily told me she’d be delighted and so I walked over to the office and from then on the process started.
How did you find the process of moving to Gateforth Park?
The process took me over a year as I had two buyers that fell through with my cottage and it was third time lucky. However, the Gateforth Park staff were brilliant and made cups of tea and supported me through that uncertain time and welcomed me to the park when I drove the four hour round trip during the planning period prior to moving in. They were supportive afterwards, too.
What do you like about living in a park home?
I love the simplicity of living in a park home. I have settled in to park life and my home very well. It’s so much easier for me here and everyone is so helpful and friendly and caring about each other.
How about Gateforth Park’s location?
The location is fabulous. The market town of Selby is so near for shopping and I have joined lots of clubs and groups, and do voluntary work there too. The village of Thorpe Willoughby is only a short walk away from the park and the beautiful city of York is also nearby. We’re not too far from the coast either and I’ve driven to Whitby, Scarborough and Filey and back for a day out. I frequently visit the nature reserves with my dogs. So far I’ve discovered five locally but I’m sure there will be more that I haven’t found yet.
What are you looking forward to as the site develops?
I was excited about the recent opening of the community centre and shop.
What would you say to anyone considering a move to Gateforth Park?
I would recommend anyone interested in living at Gateforth Park to visit the sales office and have a tour around here and if you do decide to move here you will be warmly welcomed. Good luck!
